Visharg Shah works as Manager – Data Science and is a part of the System department at Asian Paints. The organization has multiple functions such as System, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sales & Marketing, Audit, Finance, Shared Services, etc. The System department is ideally an I.T. department that has multiple teams such as Infosec, Analytics, etc. and Visharg is the part of Analytics team. His responsibilities are to build an analytical understanding of the business and make them understand the A.I. processes and how they can help the business to grow. He is also responsible for setting a practice of executing projects using DataOps & MLOps to deliver projects efficiently. He also works with different functions and stakeholders to figure out the use cases by talking workshops and brainstorming sessions. Visharg is responsible for executing end-to-end use-case and worked with multiple use cases such as Credit Risk Modelling, Lead Scoring, Invoice Duplication, Credit Limit Prediction, RFT, Admixture, etc

Visharg describes that Asian Paints is a full-fledged Décor company that is also into the Admixture business. An Admixture is a mix of chemical formulations into cement and concrete mix to achieve a particular flow and strength. The company has developed a predictive model based on the data of concrete and cement mix that will provide the Concrete Technologist (CT) a base or exact formulation to start with and execute a trial faster and achieve the requirement of flow and strength for the mix. This predictive modeling helps capture the knowledge of an experienced CT and helps a new or junior CT to execute this faster.

Visharg states that Admixture A.I. is a first-of-its-kind innovative solution that Asian Paints has developed. This innovation shows how Asian Paints is leveraging the A.I. and other latest technologies to be at the forefront of Data-Driven organizations and increase the experience of the customer in a way.

Visharg expounds that the innovation helped to reduce the overall manhour cost by approximately 7%. Also, a person with no knowledge of admixture can have a start or a base formulation to start with and achieve the requirement with a lower number of trials and deliver it to the business.

Visharg depicts that Admixture A.I. has helped the organization to reduce the TAT for supplying the Admixture formulation to the customer and thus serve more customers by providing faster solutions and increasing the business in a way. Also, there is no dependency on any experienced CTs to develop the formulation in general.

Visharg unfolded that during the execution of this use case, there were challenges around data pointers as data pointers were not enough and it wasn't cleaned. There were many erroneous data points present in the data. So, data was a huge problem from the start. The team identified this and connected to field people to understand and clean the data manually and then developed the system in a way where it will avoid erroneous data from capturing itself. The drawback is that the CT is sometimes executing this in some outskirts or hilly areas where there is no connectivity of internet and there it fails to help them.

Visharg mentioned that Asian Paints is not an I.T. company but I.T. is at the forefront in every department. The Analytics team makes sure to provide valuable insights from descriptive to prescriptive analysis. The entire System Department works very closely with all the business stakeholders to term Asian Paints as a Data-Driven Organization. Currently, they have started working with Images, Videos & Audio to solve multiple issues and explore the AR & VR capabilities for their Beautiful Homes Stores
